In a recent press briefing, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had a major meltdown when asked about the Biden administration’s response to the border crisis. Instead of providing a straightforward answer, Jean-Pierre deflected and started asking questions about Republicans. Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, who was asking the question, reminded her that he was the one supposed to be asking the questions. However, Jean-Pierre continued to ignore him and moved on to another reporter.
Luckily, Doocy’s colleague Bill Melugin was there to pick up the slack. Melugin, who has been covering the border for over two years, called out Jean-Pierre and the Biden White House for their false claims about stopping the flow of illegal immigrants at the border. He pointed out that Eagle Pass, a border city, has been completely overrun and shared numbers of illegal crossings into the United States.
Melugin also highlighted the pleas of Eagle Pass’ Democratic mayor, who has asked for assistance from Biden and Harris. Melugin dismissed the administration’s excuses about climate change and economic fallout from COVID, emphasizing that in his years of reporting, he has never encountered a migrant who cited climate change as a reason for crossing the border.
.@BillMelugin_: "Just 3 wks ago…[KJP] was up there….saying that they were 'stopping the flow' here at our southern border. I mean, I'll let our viewers decide, but does this look like stopping the flow–the images…the last few days here? Eagle Pass has been completely… pic.twitter.com/kK4a0zRXAm

Furthermore, when asked about Jean-Pierre’s claim that Biden has taken historic action to curb the border surge, Melugin exposed the failures of Biden’s “mass paroles” program and the glitches in the CBP app, both of which have contributed to the surge.
Melugin concluded by fact-checking Jean-Pierre’s previous statements about reducing illegal immigration, stopping the flow, and securing the border. He pointed out that the numbers have never been higher, and Border Patrol agent morale has never been lower.
It’s clear that the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis is a complete disaster. The denial and deflection from Jean-Pierre only serve to highlight their incompetence. It’s time for Biden to step up and take real action to secure the border and protect American citizens.
