In a surprising turn of events, Capitol Police have concluded their investigation into the fire alarm incident involving Representative Jamaal Bowman. The Democrat from New York pulled the fire alarm during a crucial House vote last month, causing quite the commotion. Now, DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb is taking action and charging Bowman with a violation of the DC code. Bowman must report to Capitol Police Headquarters in just one day’s notice. Talk about short notice!
It’s important to note that the act of pulling a false fire alarm is a serious offense, as outlined in the DC Code § 22–1319. If found guilty, Bowman could face a misdemeanor charge, a hefty fine, imprisonment for up to six months, or even both. Justice must be served!
Now, regardless of what the prosecutors decide, House Republicans are determined to hold Bowman accountable for his actions. They’ve proposed resolutions to censure and expel the member, and there have been calls for the House Ethics Committee to investigate the matter further. It’s about time we see some consequences for these kinds of reckless actions.

But of course, there are always Democrats coming to the defense of their fellow party member. Representative Alexandrio Ocasio-Cortez, another member of the Squad, has been quick to defend Bowman, criticizing Republicans for calling for his expulsion. It’s amazing how they’re more concerned with protecting their own than with upholding the integrity of our government. Can’t say we’re surprised.
It’s clear that Bowman’s attempt to justify his actions by claiming he thought pulling the alarm would open a door for him is simply not enough to escape the consequences of his reckless behavior. Lying to the American people, the House of Representatives, and congressional investigators should not go unpunished. We hope justice is served swiftly and appropriately in this case.
