Adam Kinzinger, a self-proclaimed Republican, went on a cable news show to criticize Ron DeSantis for not meeting with President Joe Biden in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia. Kinzinger’s unhinged rant shows just how out of touch he is with the American people. Instead of recognizing DeSantis’ successful recovery efforts and the fact that Florida is back on track, Kinzinger is focused on optics and bending the knee to the president. This kind of subservience to the president is exactly what is wrong with our political system. Governors should be accountable to their constituents, not to the whims of a president. It’s outrageous for Kinzinger to suggest that Biden would withhold aid to suffering people just because DeSantis didn’t participate in a photo-op.

This kind of thinking is perverted and shows a complete lack of understanding of how our federal system works. DeSantis made the right decision to prioritize the well-being of his state over political posturing. Kinzinger, on the other hand, has shown himself to be a do-nothing talking head who can’t hold a candle to the leadership skills of DeSantis. It’s no wonder he was re-districted out of his job by his own party. These post-disaster photo-ops are nothing more than political theater and do nothing to actually help the American people. It’s time for politicians like Kinzinger to focus on real solutions instead of playing politics.
