Texas Senator Ted Cruz was fuming with anger on Thursday after being questioned by a pesky reporter who dared to suggest that Republicans aren’t doing enough to fix the border. The senator was in Texas, preparing for the end of Title 42, when the reporter began to challenge him on the issue.

Cruz hit back at the reporter with some hard-hitting questions of his own, asking him if he knew what the rate of illegal immigration was in 2020. The senator refused to be interrupted, reminding the reporter that he had asked the question and now it was Cruz’s turn to answer.

The senator then went on to criticize the Democrats and the media for parroting the idea that the border crisis is unsolvable, a complete lie according to Cruz. He goes on to cite data from the last year of the Trump presidency, which had the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years.
Cruz also reminded the reporter that he has long championed the men and women of the border patrol and securing the border. He claims to have solved the problem with Remain in Mexico, only for Joe Biden to come in and make political decisions that caused the problem to resurface. The senator goes so far as to accuse the reporter of lying and tells him that he should be ashamed of himself.
However, there is hope for the border crisis. Just hours before Title 42 ended, House Republicans passed a bill that would mandate enough border patrol agents on staff and develop a plan to upgrade existing technology to make sure agents have what they need. This legislation would also allow for the construction of the border wall to resume.
It’s a shame that the mainstream media won’t report the facts and instead focuses on sensationalizing this issue for political gain. Thankfully, Senator Cruz is speaking up and fighting for the truth.
