President Biden has just received another challenger in the 2024 Democratic primaries, and this time it’s Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota. In an interview with CBS News, Phillips confidently announced his decision to run for president, boldly declaring that Mr. Biden won’t be able to secure a general election victory.
In a video clip shared on Instagram by the CBS Mornings show, Phillips explained his motivation, saying, “I have to run.” He further emphasized, “I will not sit still, I will not be quiet in the face of numbers that are so clearly saying that we’re going to be facing an emergency next November.”

While he acknowledged President Biden’s accomplishments, stating that he has done a spectacular job for the country, Phillips emphasized that the focus should be on the future rather than the past. “This is an election about the future,” he asserted.
Interestingly, despite the Democratic National Committee’s backing, which notably includes a refusal to hold debates, Biden was already facing competition from author Marianne Williamson. Furthermore, there was a stronger challenge posed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., until he decided to run as an independent, perhaps realizing the uphill battle within the Democratic Party.
It’s only the beginning of the 2024 election saga, and it seems like President Biden will have to face an uphill battle within his own party. Stay tuned for more updates and political drama as the race for the Democratic nomination heats up.
