The rise of fashionable progressive ideas—specifically those related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and gender ideology—has been met with serious pushback since the Trump administration took office. The pendulum of cultural influence appears to have swung, with many Americans now waking up to the fact that the radical ideas being touted by the so-called progressives are not as universally accepted as they once believed. There’s a growing movement of people who are tired of being lectured about what they should think and are ready to take a stand.
Under Trump’s leadership, a shift occurred. The days of unquestioned support for these progressive buzzwords are quickly becoming relics of the past. More citizens are questioning not only the validity of DEI initiatives, which often seem to prioritize skin color and gender over merit, but also the idea that gender is nothing more than a social construct. America is seeing a resurgence of common sense, where traditional values are starting to reclaim their relevance in the national dialogue.
The aftershocks of this cultural shift are still being felt. First comes the growing backlash against corporations and institutions pushing DEI programs and strict gender ideologies. This pushback is leading to a powerful grassroots movement emphasizing parental rights and the need for transparency in education. It turns out that folks don’t appreciate the idea of being force-fed ideologies while trying to educate their kids.
As the dust settles from years of progressive overreach, the anticipation builds for the next wave of change. Social norms are evolving, but they are evolving in a way that leans toward the values and beliefs held by a significant portion of the American populace. With more and more individuals rejecting the one-size-fits-all doctrine of progressive thought, it’s likely that the future will see a realignment toward common sense and a renewed appreciation for traditional values. The age of passive acceptance appears to be over, and the progressives may want to brace themselves for what’s coming next.
