When looking at the threat levels within the country, one might wonder whether radical Islam or Christianity poses more risk to civilization. A quick glance at recent events seems to showcase that the script of reality itself might be stranger than any fiction.
For starters, several incidents linked to extremist activities occurred across the nation, painting a troubling picture. In Austin, Texas, a most unfortunate event unfolded as a bar became the scene of devastation, leaving two individuals dead and fourteen wounded. The situation does not end there. In New York City, attempts to incite violence and spread fear were rampant, adding to the growing anxiety.
One might expect our media to engage in a balanced critique, but surprise, surprise, they usually have other plans. Once again, radical Islam seems to receive a free pass, with certain circles bending over backwards to avoid calling out these horrific events for what they are. Instead, some are quick to turn the critical eye toward Christianity, depicting it as the troublemaker of the modern era. The irony is not lost on anyone who takes the time to tally the week’s events.
Now, let’s talk about what’s happening in the skies. Attempted bombings on flights continue to trigger alarm bells, with a recent case involving a trip from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale, as if airline travel wasn’t already enough of an adventure. Additionally, threats have forced emergency landings in Atlanta and left travelers on edge in Kansas City. Churches across America find themselves reinforced with extra prayers, as Homeland Security reports escalating threats targeting these sacred spaces.
While the media can sometimes demonstrate selective amnesia, the evidence laid bare doesn’t lie. The nation’s populace has to navigate these stormy skies, often left to wonder why there seems to be a tendency to gloss over some realities while capitalizing on others. As always, the question on everyone’s mind remains: At what point does the narrative change to consider all relevant pieces of the puzzle? The American people eagerly await an answer.
