In a recent discussion on a conservative news channel, Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna made quite a stir by expressing her thoughts on the National Guard troops and the immigration situation in the United States. It seems that the Democrats are trying to twist the narrative around these brave men and women in uniform, suggesting that they had it coming for their involvement in securing Washington, D.C. during Donald Trump’s presidency. This line of reasoning did not sit well with Luna, who asserted that it’s an abhorrent perspective and reflects a lack of understanding about the purpose of the National Guard.
Luna highlighted that many of the National Guard members who were deployed to Washington were either locals or transferred from out of state to help maintain security. She even recounted a dramatic instance where a Democrat congressman was mugged and had his sushi stolen. It might sound funny, but it really underscores the severity of crime in the capital, which was rampant before Trump’s administration took the reins and fortified the area with National Guard troops.
The congresswoman did not shy away from addressing a tragic fact regarding violence and crime; she specifically noted the death of a woman named Sarah Beckstrom, labeling any attempt to justify this tragedy as utterly unacceptable. In her view, the real issue lies in the staggering amount of crime that had become a part of daily life in Washington prior to the National Guard’s presence. By emphasizing these points, she argued that the Democrats need to reconsider their stance about the security situation rather than blaming the guards for doing their jobs.
Moving on to another hot topic, Luna threw her support behind President Trump’s recent actions to halt asylum applications and immigration from certain countries. She believes this is a smart first step in addressing the growing issues with illegal immigration. According to her, the current immigration system is completely bogged down, largely due to the unchecked influx of individuals entering the country during the Biden administration. From her perspective, a considerable portion of her congressional office’s workload revolves around immigration cases, with many constituents seeking to come to America legally, only to find themselves stuck in a system overflowing with people who entered unlawfully.
Luna emphasized the need for a pause on immigration until the system can catch up. It’s a reasonable concern, especially with the high number of immigrants who do not want to assimilate or may not possess the skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to society. She expressed regret over what has been happening, stating that had proper vetting processes been in place, certain tragic incidents may have been avoided.
