In a fiery tirade, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) launched a scathing attack against the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), accusing the influential pro-Israel PAC of being “racist” and “bigoted.” Taking to the platform formerly known as Twitter, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that AIPAC had endorsed “scores of Jan 6th insurrectionists” and targeted members of color within Congress.
It’s clear that Ocasio-Cortez’s accusations hold no merit and are yet another attempt to push her radical agenda. AIPAC, with its 3 million members across every congressional district, serves as a support system for pro-Israel policies. The corresponding PAC endorses candidates from both sides of the aisle, including prominent politicians such as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
AIPAC’s recent move to call out Ocasio-Cortez and several other congress members who voted against a resolution showing solidarity with Israel is entirely justified. It is essential to hold elected officials accountable for their actions, especially concerning matters of national security. By opposing the condemnation of Hamas, Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow representatives are sending a dangerous message that emboldens terrorists.
While Ocasio-Cortez may advocate for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rightly points out that such an option is not viable. Just as the United States did not agree to a cease-fire after Pearl Harbor or the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Israel cannot afford to back down in the face of horrific acts of aggression.
It’s clear that Ocasio-Cortez’s baseless accusations and calls for appeasement reveal a lack of understanding when it comes to protecting American interests and standing with our allies. AIPAC’s efforts to highlight her misguided voting record should be commended, not condemned.
