Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a knack for saying what’s on her mind—and when the target is Elon Musk, the target-rich environment proves to be quite appetizing. Ocasio-Cortez recently lashed out at the tech mogul and Trump ally, calling him one of the “most unintelligent billionaires” she has ever encountered. Apparently, in her view, intelligence and ethics are plentiful in leftist circles, unlike in the capitalist world where Musk seems to thrive.
Musk’s recent initiatives aimed at cleaning up the government—specifically through the Department of Government Efficiency, amusingly abbreviated as DOGE—have sent shockwaves through liberal circles. The once-coveted allocation of taxpayer dollars into futile projects, like promoting inclusion through a Sesame Street show in Iraq with a hefty price tag of $20 million, is now under scrutiny. Ocasio-Cortez’s frustration likely stems from Musk’s commitment to putting an end to the gravy train of waste that many left-leaning programs enjoy.

The congresswoman’s critique of Musk, delivered with a chuckle during an Instagram video, is as entertaining as it is ironic. She claims that Musk’s lack of common sense is evident even to casual viewers of the media. Her focus appears to be less on the substance of Musk’s accomplishments and more on her own disdain for his methods and meaningful reforms. After all, who needs to do homework when one can just hurl insults at billionaires from a cozy Congress office?
Amidst her aesthetic lament about Musk’s perceived shortcomings, it seems she conveniently glosses over his successful efforts to save taxpayers over $1 billion by axing diversity, equity, and inclusion contracts and other wasteful expenditures. Perhaps this disdain reflects a deeper concern: the fear that Musk’s no-nonsense approach could be the beginning of the end for poorly managed government projects that have thrived in leftist ideologies.
While Ocasio-Cortez complains about Elon Musk’s intelligence—calling him “morally vacant” and “least knowledgeable” among the “elite”—one has to chuckle at the irony. After all, this is the same congresswoman who once proclaimed the world would end in 12 years due to climate change if nothing was done. In a world where wisdom is subjective, the real question is whether her incessant finger-pointing can overshadow the fact that Musk is saving taxpayers’ money, something that would usually be celebrated across the aisle if it didn’t come with a MAGA label.
