The U.S. Capitol Police recently apprehended an illegal alien who was found in possession of threatening weapons, including a brick, a butcher’s knife, and a machete. This dangerous individual, Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez, 23, was ultimately turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for his illegal status as a Venezuelan national in the United States. And get this, folks — he had already been detained and released by federal officials at least once before!

Now, let’s just say that this situation wouldn’t have happened if the Biden administration — or any of the administrations from Bill Clinton to Donald Trump — had done their job to secure our borders. And let’s not forget the absolute craziness of the immigration court system, where some cases drag on for a decade or more. Can you imagine waiting ten years to find out what’s going to happen with an immigration case? I can’t even wait ten minutes for my coffee to finish brewing!
But it’s not just about fairness to American citizens, although they certainly foot the bill for all this processing and the government benefits for many illegals. It’s also about the fairness to immigrants who have legitimate claims for asylum that might take 14 years or more to resolve. That’s just not right, folks, and it’s time we put a stop to it.
Now, the U.S. Capitol Police Chief, Tom Manger, praised his officers for keeping everyone safe, and, of course, we should all be thankful for that. But, let’s get real here, folks. If we had a secure border, this dangerous individual would never have had the chance to pose a threat in the first place.
Let’s all thank our hard-working law enforcement officers, but let’s also hold our government accountable for securing our borders and keeping us safe. It’s time to put America first!
