A staggering $389,087 of taxpayer money has been funneled from the Health and Human Services (HHS) to a group of academics at Drexel University, who are currently conducting research focusing on transgender individuals in India. This project, which runs from March 2021 until February 2024, involves in-depth interviews with 30 transgender men in Delhi and Mumbai—as if these two cities were the heart of the transgender experience in India. To top it off, the Biden administration thought it would be a wise move to foot the bill for online surveys targeting an additional 300 transgender men in these cities. One can’t help but wonder how these research dollars could have been better spent, perhaps improving healthcare in more pressing areas instead of prioritizing a niche group overseas.
The objective of this publicly funded project is wrapped up neatly in a mission statement that sounds far better suited for a government grant application than a matter of critical urgency. The claim is that the study aims to address mental health issues among transgender individuals in India, tackling conditions such as anxiety and suicidality. However, one might question how the results of this study will actually provide meaningful insights when the evidence base already exists elsewhere. The researchers assert they are simply trying to bring the “gender” back into the equation—because apparently, until now, gender has been perpetually sitting on the sidelines.

Biden’s HHS has thrown its weight behind the transgender community with vigor, resulting in a controversial new rule that demands healthcare providers, including those treating minors, to deliver transgender medical care. Critics have raised their voices concerning this mandate, stating it offers little room for those with religious beliefs who might object to these medical interventions. It appears that the government’s push for these healthcare directives doesn’t take into account concerns of personal convictions, which many would argue should be a fundamental right.
At the helm of this initiative is Adm. Rachel Levine, who was appointed by President Biden as assistant secretary of HHS. Levine, a biological male who identifies as a woman, has been an outspoken advocate for loosening restrictions on transgender surgeries for minors. In a world where “Diversity and Inclusion” seem to take precedence over common sense, this appointment underscores a troubling trend towards changing medical norms without publicly debating their implications.
The Biden administration’s lavish spending on global transgender initiatives is truly mind-boggling. From funding programs for pro-transgender activists in India to providing grants for organizations aimed at enhancing platforms for “queer” Muslims, one has to wonder if there’s an end in sight. Meanwhile, back home, Americans continue to face critical issues in healthcare, education, and infrastructure that remain woefully unaddressed. Adding insult to injury, billionaire Elon Musk has been vocally contemplating slashing funding for such programs, signaling a potential pushback from those who are tired of seeing their tax dollars spent on projects that don’t resonate with mainstream American values.
