The Biden administration continues to disappoint the American people with their latest plan to address illegal immigration. According to CBS News, the administration plans to set up processing centers south of the U.S.-Mexico border to deal with the overwhelming number of migrants trying to enter the country illegally. This plan would allow migrants to have screening interviews at the centers to determine their legal claim to enter the U.S. What could possibly go wrong?

As reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there were more than 2.3 million migrant encounters in fiscal year 2022, a new record. The situation is expected to get worse with the ending of Title 42, a Trump-era public health policy used to expel certain migrants who crossed the border illegally. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas himself said that he expects an influx of migrants when the policy expires on May 11.
The fact that the Biden administration is planning to set up processing centers in areas where migrants traverse frequently and in large numbers shows that they aren’t serious about addressing the issue of illegal immigration. They are only creating more incentives and encouraging more people to try to come to the U.S. illegally. The administration has been negotiating with Colombia, Ecuador, and Guatemala to set up these processing centers, which will undoubtedly put a strain on their resources.
It’s clear that the Biden administration has no real plan to address the situation at the border. Instead, they’re creating more problems and hoping that they’ll magically disappear. It’s not a sustainable solution to allow illegal immigrants into the country and then process them later. This will only encourage more people to try to come to the U.S. illegally, putting their lives at risk and taxing our resources.
As conservatives, we must continue to hold the Biden administration accountable for their failures in addressing the issue of illegal immigration. We need policies that promote the rule of law, protect our borders, and put the interests of Americans first. We cannot allow the Biden administration to continue to put political correctness over common sense.
