The tragic events in New Orleans have once again shone a spotlight on the continuous cycle of violence and the inept handling of national security by the current administration. The suspect, a 42-year-old Army veteran from Texas, was the poster child for a security lapse, having openly proclaimed his admiration for ISIS on social media before launching an attack that killed at least ten people. One could almost hear the sigh of relief from the White House as President Biden delivered his remarks, noting that his administration is “grieving” for the victims while actively dodging accountability for their failures.
Biden detailed how the suspect had expressed a “desire to kill” in videos just hours before the rampage. If there’s one thing that reporters might have expected in a moment like this, it’s a full investigation into how someone with such volatile intentions slipped through the cracks. But instead, the president assured the nation that the FBI is leading the investigation, and all immediate threats are under control. Because what’s better than letting law enforcement do their job? Relying on live tweets from the president to gather situational updates.
In a classic display of doing just enough to look busy, Biden pointed out that the suspect had an ISIS flag in his vehicle and explosives scattered around. What a shocker! A person shouting their allegiance to a terrorist organization while packing explosives is apparently what it takes for the administration to finally spring into action. It’s like ordering extra guacamole while dining at a sketchy Mexican joint; you’d expect a little more caution when the danger is peppered throughout past meals.
Louisiana AG Liz Murrill suggests Sugar Bowl be postponed until Friday to 'respect' victims and families after terror attack.

The president also seemed fixated on future threats, ominously mentioning the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck at a Trump hotel in Las Vegas. Who would’ve thought that Biden’s safety updates would stretch from New Orleans to a glittery Las Vegas hotel? Speculating on connections between such events while dodging the hard questions about how a declared terrorist sympathizer was armed and dangerous is merely a distraction.
And in true Biden fashion, once he let everyone know the federal apparatus was “on it”, he scurried off without answering any questions. Perhaps one could take a page from the administration’s book; why stick around to face the music when there are press conferences that can be magically avoided? Rest assured, while the heart of New Orleans may beat strong, it’s hard not to feel a little queasy about how the nation’s security is being handled—or rather, mishandled—by Biden and his team.
