President Joe Biden’s relentless attack on American energy continues with his latest plan to restrict mining and oil drilling in New Mexico. This misguided decision will force Americans to rely on other countries, including those with terrible labor practices and even our adversaries, for vital resources that can easily be tapped into in New Mexico. It’s clear that Biden’s energy policy is not going over well with the American people.

Despite Biden’s claims of wanting to lower gas prices, his actions speak louder than his words. He is doing everything in his power to drive up gas prices and push people away from gas-powered vehicles and towards electric cars. It’s ironic that he claims to want to lower prices while implementing policies that undermine our oil industry and lead to higher prices. Under President Trump, the United States had control over the price of oil, but now we’re at the mercy of OPEC. This not only threatens our economy, but also our national security.
Biden’s abandonment of American energy security is not only benefiting OPEC and its member states, but it’s also playing directly into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. By constantly restricting access to our own resources, we become more dependent on foreign countries, primarily China, to power our homes and economy. This puts us at a disadvantage and strengthens China’s position on the world stage. It’s clear that Biden is prioritizing the interests of other countries over the well-being of American workers and our energy security.
The proposed ban on mining and drilling in New Mexico is yet another example of Biden’s shortsightedness. This decision will harm Americans today and well into the future. The land in question has high potential for extraction of sand and gravel, which is crucial for construction purposes. By restricting access to these resources, Biden is making it more difficult to build critical infrastructure and ultimately driving up costs for Americans.
Not only does Biden’s energy policy hurt American energy security and increase our reliance on foreign countries, but it also has ethical implications. As we rely more on other countries for resources, there will be increased incentive for those countries to exploit their people, including child labor, in order to meet demand. We can either responsibly extract these resources in America or rely on child slave labor from abroad. Biden’s decision clearly shows that he is more interested in appeasing radical political demands than implementing sensible energy policies.
It’s alarming to see the Biden administration signing supply chain agreements with countries known for forced and child labor, such as countries in Africa. This is a clear indication of where his priorities lie. Instead of prioritizing American workers and sensible energy policies, Biden is giving away our future to meet the demands of his radical base. It’s time for a new administration to step in and unleash the full potential of the American oil industry in order to secure our energy independence and protect American jobs.
