Less than a day after Joe Biden hypocritically urged Americans to “lower the temperature,” he faced criticism for his own inflammatory remarks during an interview with Lester Holt on NBC News.
Holt pointed out Biden’s previous references to his opponent as an “existential threat” and comments about putting Trump “in the bullseye.” Biden attempted to justify these statements by claiming he meant to focus on Trump’s policies and lies, rather than inciting violence. However, his feeble attempts to backtrack only highlighted the divisive language he had used.
NBC: You called President Trump "an existential threat" and said it's time to put him "in the bullseye."

Despite Holt’s continued questioning, Biden stubbornly refused to acknowledge the impact of his rhetoric, instead deflecting blame onto his opponent. His failure to take responsibility for his words further called into question his sincerity in calling for unity and civility in the political discourse.
Biden’s attempts to portray himself as a champion of cooling tensions fell flat as his evasive responses and refusal to address his own role in escalating political divisions undermined his credibility. His lack of accountability for the inflammatory language used by himself and his party only added to the perception that he is unwilling to confront the real issues at hand.

In the end, Biden’s interview with Holt revealed his reluctance to acknowledge his own contribution to the toxic political climate. By deflecting blame and failing to commit to genuine efforts to “lower the temperature,” he demonstrated a lack of leadership and a disingenuous approach to addressing the very issues he claims to care about.
