It’s noted that Beau did not die in combat, but Biden continues to bring him up in inappropriate contexts. Biden linked Beau’s cancer to burn pits in Iraq, a claim that has been criticized for lacking evidence.
While it’s respectable that Beau served in the military, it’s inappropriate for Biden to equate his son’s death with those who died in combat. During a recent visit with families of fallen service members, Biden drew criticism for repeatedly mentioning Beau. Trump also faced critique for veering off topic in his Memorial Day messages.
Memorial Day should be a day to honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for the country, not a day for personal agendas or attacks. Biden and Trump should focus their messaging on the true meaning of the holiday, showing respect for the military’s fallen heroes.
