President Joe Biden, in a recent address from the White House, absolved himself once more of accountability for the border crisis by attributing it to the failure of the Republican Party to enact new legislation. The President asserted, "I have exhausted all possible efforts. Simply grant me authority. I have inquired ever since my inception in the office. Provide the Border Patrol to me. Provide me with the populace; specifically, the judges. "Grant me the individuals who can rectify the situation and put an end to this."

However, Biden does possess the ability to undo the policies of the current administration that are contributing to the border crisis. Biden's inaccurate assertions were rebuked by House Speaker Mike Johnson, who stated, "He is either lying or misinformed. "Had he only utilized the various authorities at his disposal, the following would be a small selection." Johnson urged the president to take immediate executive action and emphasized that Biden could utilize Presidential Authority to Restrict Entry 212(f), Expedited Removal 235(b)(1), Discretionary Detention Authority 236(a), and Mandatory Detention 236(c) to resolve the crisis.
Johnson elaborated, "As stated in my letter, President Biden can initiate border security measures by discontinuing catch-and-release practices, halting the abuse of parole authority, reviving the Remain in Mexico program, broadening the application of expedited removal authority, and resuming border wall construction." He emphasized that the President must reclaim the nation's sovereignty and put an end to the mass release of illegal aliens by utilizing the expansive legal authority he already possesses.
As a result of a comprehensive memorandum issued by Johnson's office, which details the extensive executive actions Biden has undertaken since January 2021 to worsen the current crisis, Republicans are demonstrating that the President can address the border crisis in a variety of ways without involving Congress. It is time for Biden to assume accountability and utilize his authority to safeguard the nation's citizens and secure its borders.
