The Biden-Harris administration’s tenure has all but removed the phrase “victimless crime” from any reasonable discussion around illegal immigration. Recent developments out of New York City provide a glaring example of the chaos that often ensues when border security is treated like a mere suggestion instead of a vital law. This unfortunate situation became apparent when an illegal alien, having been apprehended at the border last May, made headlines for allegedly assaulting police officers in the city.
It’s almost as if the administration believes that the criminals themselves are victims of their circumstance. The cycle of catch and release plays out with absurd regularity, and it appears that the only real victims are the American citizens and law enforcement who have to deal with the consequences. This particular case smacks of irony, as it underscores the stubborn refusal of those in power to enforce immigration laws that are already on the books, ultimately eroding the public’s trust in their safety and security.
