It’s hardly a surprise that President Joe Biden, recently unceremoniously nudged out of the 2024 presidential race by his own party, has taken to spending quality time with the sand, surf, and seagulls of Delaware. Rather than hatching any grand schemes to regain favor with the electorate—or at least pretend to get stuff done—Biden seems more interested in claiming a roomy spot on the beach. After all, who needs to lead when you can lounge in the sun?
According to reports, not only did the President make a splash at Rehoboth Beach for the second consecutive weekend, but he has also managed to avoid the spotlight like he’s trying to win a game of hide-and-seek with the press. With the frequency of his beach excursions, one could argue that he’s actually auditioning for a new career as a professional beach bum. Contrary to any reasonable expectations that an embattled leader might focus on governance, Biden seems keen on establishing a new record for vacation days.

The Republican National Committee has unearthed some eyebrow-raising statistics—Biden’s vacation tally since he took office sits at a jaw-dropping 532 days. That’s over 40 percent of his presidency dedicated to leisure! Meanwhile, the rest of the country gets to wonder who exactly is steering the ship. Could it be that he’s left the nation’s affairs in the capable hands of… well, no one?
To add to the vacation extravaganza, Biden reportedly spent the last week at a lavish 8,000-acre ranch in California belonging to some Democrat billionaire. It’s a bit rich, no pun intended, that the party’s high rollers are treating the President like a favored houseguest, perhaps more suited to a retreat than running the free world. One can almost visualize the family-friendly shindig he’s hosting, complete with sandcastles and a few too many piña coladas.
As expected, White House spokespeople have jumped into damage control mode. In a recent virtual briefing, a National Security Council representative attempted to reassure the public that despite Biden’s picturesque jaunts and frequent disappearance acts, he’s “very much in command.” Indeed, one must wonder what “in command” looks like when you’re 16 days into a beach getaway. Can it be that he’s simply trading in the demands of the presidency for sunburns and long walks along the shore?
With Biden’s vacationing habits becoming a trending topic, the question remains: Where’s the urgency? While the country grapples with crucial issues, the President seems content to catch some rays rather than catch up on policy. It looks like the nation is just going to have to hang tight until he decides it’s time to come back to reality—if that ever happens at all.
