President Biden’s motorcade caused major delays in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, inconveniencing countless Americans trying to go about their day. The president’s arrival at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center resulted in the closure of Washington’s Interstate 495 in both directions, creating a nightmare for commuters.
Drivers took to social media to express their frustration, with one person lamenting being stuck in traffic for over an hour and a half. These hardworking citizens were simply trying to make their way home or to important appointments, only to be held up by the president’s motorcade.

It’s clear that President Biden’s decision to use a motorcade during rush hour greatly disrupted the flow of traffic, prompting angry responses from those affected. Some even questioned why the president couldn’t simply utilize the NIH’s helicopter pad, which is just a short distance away and has been used by past presidents to avoid contributing to traffic congestion.
This incident serves as a stark contrast to former President Donald Trump’s visit to the NIH, where he wisely opted for helicopter travel to minimize disruptions for the public. It’s a shame that President Biden didn’t follow suit, as it would have spared hardworking Americans unnecessary stress and delays.
This is just another example of the current administration’s lack of consideration for everyday Americans and its disregard for the impact of its actions on the public. President Biden’s failure to prioritize the well-being of commuters reflects a troubling pattern of elitist behavior that continues to define his presidency.
