What could be more important than the numerous challenges facing the country? Apparently, lounging at a luxurious vineyard on the West Coast. Following what could be described as a farewell performance at the Democratic National Convention, where Biden delivered a speech presumably meant to resonate with the party’s base, he promptly jetted off to California to unwind. It’s unclear whether he packed any concerns about the economy or foreign policy with his Louis Vuitton luggage.
While serious events unfold, including an anniversary of the tragic Kabul airport bombing that claimed the lives of 13 American service members, Biden chooses to bask in the sun with his family at a lavish estate owned by a prominent Democratic donor. This picturesque location, an 8,000-acre retreat in California’s Santa Barbara County, has all the hallmarks of the elite lifestyle many Democrats have come to love — so much for being “for the people.”
Even as Biden saunters along the sandy beaches of Rehoboth, Delaware, the world outside grows ever more chaotic. His public schedule reveals that he is seemingly committed to continued relaxation at the shore rather than attending to pressing national matters. In stark contrast, Donald Trump honored the memories of the fallen with dignity and decorum, underlining the difference in leadership styles between the two men.
Biden’s boasts about focusing on his presidential duties ring a little hollow when evidence suggests he spends more time perfecting his tan than attending to the nation’s business. As Democrats scramble to twist his words and present a façade of leadership, the reality is that America is left with President Vacation, who has yet to address the serious implications of his administration’s decisions.
