President Biden appears to have made a clear decision to leave his son, Hunter Biden, to the whims of the justice system, proving yet again that familial love has its limits—especially when criminal charges are involved. In the wake of his son’s legal troubles, which include multiple gun-related charges and serious tax offenses, the president has sworn off any interference, placing his integrity on display (as if he has any left to tarnish).
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre happily stood at the podium during the first post-2024 election press briefing, fielding questions regarding Hunter’s impending sentencing like a seasoned catcher. Time and again, she reiterated the message from the top: “No pardons, no commuted sentences, and absolutely no intervention from Dad.” Such resolve! It’s as if they’re in a game of “who can be the least forgiving,” and Hunter, with his impressive list of goof-ups, is losing spectacularly.

His courtroom drama doesn’t end there; he’s due for sentencing on December 17 following a guilty plea on federal tax charges that could land him in the slammer for nearly two decades. Perhaps the Biden family should consider a new holiday tradition: prepare for the worst while promising no presidential favors will come to the rescue. In a delightful twist, some commentators have speculated whether President-elect Donald Trump should offer Hunter a pardon as a gesture of goodwill towards Democrats. They certainly have a curious way of bridging divides, suggesting that Trump should stretch a hand towards Hunter Biden.
