In a Labor Day address in Pennsylvania, President Biden launched a scathing attack on former President Trump, claiming that he “didn’t build a damn thing.” Biden went on to criticize the state of infrastructure under Trump’s leadership, calling it a “punchline.” As expected, Biden didn’t miss the opportunity to mention China, falsely accusing Trump of exporting jobs to the communist country. Despite Trump’s efforts to bring jobs back to America and his imposition of tariffs on Chinese goods, Biden claimed that it was his administration that was responsible for bringing jobs home.

Biden also highlighted the differences between himself and Trump when it came to their perspectives on the world. While Trump was accused of looking at the world from the elite neighborhood of Park Avenue, Biden claimed to view it from working-class towns like Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Claymont, Delaware.
It’s worth noting that Biden’s critique of Trump extends beyond the realm of domestic policy. He also criticized Trump’s decision to shut down travel from China at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, accusing him of promoting “hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering.” However, Biden’s campaign later clarified that his criticism wasn’t specifically directed at the travel bans.
This Labor Day address was yet another opportunity for Biden to take shots at his predecessor and promote his own agenda. From infrastructure to China, Biden painted a picture of himself as the savior of American jobs and the champion of the working class. Whether his rhetoric aligns with reality, however, remains up for debate.
