It’s about time! According to The New York Times, companies like Lucky Charms and Cheetos are facing investigations, and other big players in the business world, like McDonald’s and Costco, are conducting audits to ensure that migrant children are not being subjected to hazardous work environments. Now, isn’t it a shocker that this is happening under the Biden administration?
Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, the number of encounters with migrant children at the southern border has skyrocketed under President Joe Biden’s watch. From 33,000 to over 150,000! It seems like our borders have become a revolving door for innocent children, and the Biden administration couldn’t care less. Reports suggest that they completely turned a blind eye to warnings about child labor exploitation. Way to prioritize, Mr. President!

The gruesome stories of child labor in America are enough to make your stomach turn. Imagine being a 13-year-old forced to clean heavy machinery at a McDonald’s slaughterhouse or inhaling toxic chemicals at a Costco. It’s a wonder these kids aren’t already scarred for life. But fear not, folks! Companies like Whole Foods are “evolving their focus” on the risk of migrant child labor. How noble of them to finally realize that children and dangerous work environments don’t mix.
The auditors are coming! Companies are scrambling to save face and avoid any legal trouble. Inspectors are snooping around overnight shifts at slaughterhouses, while Costco is hiring Spanish-speaking auditors to communicate with migrant workers. It’s as if they suddenly discovered a conscience after years of turning a blind eye. Well, better late than never, I suppose. But let’s not forget who’s ultimately responsible for this mess in the first place – the Biden administration!
It’s a sad state of affairs when we have to rely on audits to prevent child labor. But hey, at least it’s a step in the right direction. Greg Gardener, chief executive of Arche Advisors, says his auditing firm has never seen such a spike in requests. Good for them! This is the kind of change we need to see. However, it’s disheartening to think about the countless children who suffered before these audits became necessary. Shame on the Biden administration for allowing such exploitation to go unchecked.
