An Axios report has uncovered some juicy details about an intense meeting between President Biden and his immigration team, which shed light on the infighting and lack of cohesion plaguing the White House’s efforts to find solutions.

Picture this: President Biden, aboard Air Force One, on his way to tour the southern border. He’s surrounded by his team of immigration experts, and things quickly take a turn for the worse. The President becomes irate, demanding obscure immigration data points and venting his frustration when his staff can’t produce them on the spot. This outburst is just one example of the administration’s struggle with the border crisis over the past three years – infighting, blame-shifting, and indecisiveness at its finest.
But let’s not forget about Vice President Kamala Harris, who has conveniently distanced herself from the border crisis. According to the report, Harris and her team insisted that her responsibilities only included examining the reasons why people were leaving countries like Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. Well, it seems that even in that limited role, Harris hasn’t been all that effective. A former senior official in the Biden administration called her out for her lack of action and engagement, stating that she “didn’t fill the breach.”
And it’s not just Harris who has been facing criticism. Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice has also had her fair share of clashes with Harris and other members of the administration. It appears that tensions between Rice and Harris go all the way back to 2020 when both were being vetted for the vice presidency. Rice believed that Harris and her team were behind negative coverage of her, and she made sure everyone knew she was more knowledgeable about the border.
Honestly, none of this surprises me. The Biden administration has been a hot mess when it comes to immigration. With members of the team clashing over their preferred approaches, it’s no wonder they can’t come up with any solutions. It’s clear that there won’t be any improvements to the border crisis as long as this administration continues to be plagued by infighting and indecision. Time for them to get their act together and start prioritizing the safety and security of our borders.
