The first thing you need to know about Sen. Jeff Merkley is that he’s a Democrat. So it’s no surprise that he’s spouting off some liberal nonsense on MSNBC. According to Merkley, David Satterfield, the U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Humanitarian Issues, told him that Hamas has tunnels under hospitals. Well, duh! Of course Hamas has tunnels under hospitals. This is just another example of how the Democrats are more interested in appeasing terrorists than protecting American interests.

But Merkley tries to downplay the seriousness of the situation by saying that it’s only a problem if the hospital is full of explosives. Really, Merkley? Is that what it takes for you to admit that Hamas is a threat? Maybe next time you should ask Satterfield about the tunnels under schools and playgrounds too.
It’s clear that Merkley and his fellow Democrats are more concerned with bashing Israel than actually doing something about the real problem in the Middle East: terrorism. They would rather play politics and make excuses for Hamas than take a stand against these terrorists. It’s time for Americans to wake up and see the truth – the Democrats are weak on national security and are more interested in pandering to their far-left base than keeping Americans safe.
So while Merkley is busy making excuses for Hamas, the rest of us will be standing with Israel and working to eradicate terrorism wherever it may be found. It’s time for real leadership, not empty words and political posturing.
