In an unexpected turn of events, the Supreme Court has given President Biden a rare win in his fight for gun control. Even though Biden had said before that the Supreme Court was a "extreme" rubber stamp for the right, the court decided 5-4 in favour of regulations on so-called "ghost guns." Even conservative judges Amy Coney Barrett and John Roberts agreed with the liberals on this.

For those who don't know what "ghost guns" are, they are privately made guns that have caught the attention of the gun control group, which wants the federal government to keep an eye on them. In answer to this worry, Biden proposed a new rule at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) that makes the definition of a gun very broad.
Under Biden's rule, people who buy unfinished gun parts must now go through background checks, just like they would if they bought a fully working gun from a licenced dealer. Also, "ghost guns" are now required to have serial numbers. But in July, a district court judge said that Congress never gave the government the power to control gun parts the way Biden wants.
The plaintiffs say that law-abiding people should be able to make guns for their own use without having to follow a lot of rules from the government. This seems like a fair point of view, since the Second Amendment says that people should be able to use their rights. Unfortunately, people on the left see "ghost guns" as a dangerous loophole that needs to be stopped for public safety's sake.
The Department of Justice was happy about the Supreme Court's ruling and said that the rule would help police solve crimes and cut down on the number of "ghost guns" that can't be found. But it's important to remember that the Supreme Court didn't make a decision on the case's grounds, so it could come back to the court in the future. As Republicans, we must stay on guard to protect our Second Amendment rights and fight against any attempts to take away our freedoms.
