The House Judiciary Committee recently interviewed U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, who was appointed by President Joe Biden, about a case involving Biden’s son. Graves, who had also donated to Biden’s presidential campaign, was questioned by the committee about potential conflicts of interest. However, Graves did not see any issue with addressing the case.

Graves explained that the Department of Justice often investigates individuals who are part of the administration, including family members. He did not believe this created a conflict of interest. When asked if he considered recusing himself from the Hunter Biden case, Graves said he did not.
The committee also questioned Graves about his conversation with special counsel David Weiss regarding the Hunter Biden investigation. Graves offered logistical assistance for the case and even proposed partnering with Weiss, although he later decided against it. Graves stated that he made it clear to Weiss that he could proceed with the prosecution on his own.
Critics have raised concerns about Graves’ political affiliations, including his work for Democrats in the past. They also point to allegations of unfair prosecution related to the January 6 Capitol riot and his wife’s position at a left-leaning organization. Republican lawmakers, such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Matt Gaetz, have called for Graves’ impeachment, claiming that he is too closely tied to the Biden family.
In Gaetz’s opinion, Graves has benefited politically and financially from his connections to the Bidens. He believes that Garland, Graves, and Weiss all have conflicts of interest due to their loyalty to the Biden family. Gaetz argues that all Americans should be concerned about this.
