In a stunning display of failure theater, Iranian-backed militias launched attacks on US bases in Syria, further highlighting the incompetence of the Biden administration’s national security policy. These strikes came shortly after the US launched its much-hyped retaliatory strikes against Iranian and IRGC targets for the deaths of three soldiers in a drone attack. However, these retaliatory strikes proved to be nothing more than a PR stunt, as they failed to cause any significant damage or result in casualties.

It’s no surprise that these militias responded to the airstrikes with contempt. After all, the Biden administration had been broadcasting their intentions for days, giving the Iranian and militia leaders more than enough time to evade the strikes and move critical assets. It’s almost as if the Biden administration wanted these attacks to be ineffective.
This entire episode can only be described as national security theater. The airstrikes did nothing to make our troops safer or weaken the jihadists’ capabilities. Instead, it was a cheap attempt by Biden to portray himself as a tough leader while distracting the public from the disastrous consequences of his economic policies. The White House certainly didn’t expect these strikes to have any meaningful impact. Their only goal was to create an election-year narrative.
The real danger lies in the potential repercussions of this weak response. Just like in Afghanistan, Biden’s lack of commitment to protecting our troops could embolden our enemies and put American lives at risk. It’s clear that Biden is more interested in political gain than in national security.
