In a recent press conference in Vietnam, Joe Biden struggled to maintain his composure and handle the preselected reporters he was instructed to call on. It became apparent that Biden was being told what to do by his staff, as he admitted to just “following orders.” The situation quickly deteriorated, leading to his staff abruptly ending the presser while Biden was mid-answer. It was a mess, to say the least.
Not only did Biden appear to be stalling and struggling to speak, but he also made a cringe-worthy comment about having to “go to bed” and referred to the Southern hemisphere as the “Third World.” This offensive comment was the final straw for his team, causing them to cut him off. As the music played signaling the end of the press conference, Biden continued to talk over it before swiftly exiting the stage once a reporter asked about the potential indictment of his son.
These embarrassing moments are concerning for someone trying to win over voters. If Biden is constantly being led around and reliant on his staff, how can he handle the pressures and responsibilities of being President? Furthermore, if he needs saving now, how much worse will it be in a year when he’s surely deteriorated even more?
During the press conference, Biden also made a truly outrageous statement, claiming that the only existential threat humanity faces is global warming going above 1.5° in the next decade or two. This kind of thinking is absurd and makes it hard to take him seriously. How can we trust someone with such skewed priorities to handle national security and the threat of nuclear war?
What’s even more hypocritical is how Biden himself doesn’t seem to take the issue of climate change as seriously as he claims. He regularly jets off on vacation and travels in gas-guzzling SUV motorcades, which hardly aligns with his supposed concern for the environment. It seems like he’s more interested in using the issue for control rather than genuinely addressing it.
When someone with this kind of mindset and behavior has access to the nuclear codes, it’s truly a terrifying thought. We need a leader who takes national security seriously, unlike Biden, who seems more focused on making bizarre comments and using the climate change issue for his own agenda.
