Bill Maher, the ever-left-leaning comedian, may have raised a few eyebrows recently with his commentary on the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas. But don’t be fooled, folks, Maher is not being red-pilled. He’s just not as pro-terrorist or insane as the rest of his party.
Maher has always been a critic of radical Islam, a supporter of free speech, and a dissident when it comes to political correctness. Recently, he had a chat with Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, where they bonded over the absurdity of ‘wokeism.’ Cruz even has a book out about cultural Marxism, a topic that conservatives love to hate.
But where Maher really shines is in his take on the Israel-Hamas war. While he admits he’s not an expert, he certainly knows more than the antisemitic clowns we’ve seen at those pro-Hamas rallies. Unlike the leftists who label Israel as a colonizer or an apartheid state, Maher recognizes that these claims are baseless. He also knows that the Israeli Defense Forces are not committing genocide, unlike the deliberate targeting of civilians by Hamas.

Let’s set the record straight here, folks. Hamas started this war. They invaded southern Israel with the intention of raping, murdering, torturing, and burning alive Israeli civilians. It’s a horrific act of terrorism that should not be justified or overlooked. Yet we have people like former President Barack Obama trying to play both sides, claiming that “all of us are complicit.” What a load of nonsense!
Maher was quick to call out Obama for his moral equivalency between Israel, a democratic nation defending itself, and Hamas, a terrorist group hell-bent on the destruction of Israel. And I couldn’t agree more. It’s not a helpful statement, especially given the recent savage attack by Hamas. Collateral damage is not the same as deliberate acts of violence against innocent civilians.
Now, let’s give credit where credit is due. Maher may not be everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to his comedy, but he’s certainly a well-read individual. He reads everything, even things he disagrees with. That’s called intellectual curiosity, folks, something sorely lacking in today’s news media. Maher is not afraid to change his mind when presented with new information, as he did with the Iraq War in 2007.
But here’s the kicker, folks. Obama has always been terrible on the Israel-Palestine issue. Maher may be late to the party, but at least he’s finally seeing through the former president’s flawed reasoning. It’s about time someone on the left started speaking the truth about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Bravo, Bill Maher.
