Everytown for Gun Safety, a well-funded gun control group spearheaded by the ever-ambitious Mike Bloomberg, is gearing up to throw $45 million into key swing state elections. This move seems like a desperate attempt to sway the hearts and minds of Americans who still cherish their Second Amendment rights.
The organization recently threw its support behind Vice President Kamala Harris for her presidential bid, which is about as surprising as finding a traffic jam in Los Angeles. Everytown’s president, John Feinblatt, declared that with “MAGA Republicans” pushing their so-called “guns everywhere” agenda, the stakes have never been higher. One has to wonder if Feinblatt has actually visited states where responsible gun ownership is the norm, rather than viewing the country through a filter of fear and control.

The territory for this lavish spending includes Arizona, California, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—an interesting selection that mirrors the Democrats’ struggle to woo voters who might be just a tad tired of being told how to live their lives. The focus will be on attracting younger voters, voters of color, and suburban women—because nothing says relatable like a millionaire trying to connect with average folks while spending millions to strip their freedoms.
A staggering 80% of the funds will be dumped into television and digital advertising, further drowning the airwaves in biased, anti-gun rhetoric. One can only imagine the absurd combinations of hype and misinformation they’ll concoct to paint law-abiding gun owners as villains. Meanwhile, the Democrats are likely licking their chops at the prospect of a continued financial advantage since Harris became the Democratic nominee. The previous funding gap that former President Trump had opened against President Biden is narrowing—thanks in part to this tidal wave of cash from Bloomberg and his allies.
The details of which candidates will benefit from Everytown’s financial generosity remain under wraps, but they hint at a plan to inject gun control advocates into local offices through their “Demand a Seat” program. This initiative aims to elevate activist voices and those who’ve experienced gun violence to positions of power, but one must question who gets left out of this equation: the millions of responsible gun owners who are just trying to live their lives free from government overreach.
Bloomberg’s past support for political ventures is a testament to his commitment to a very one-sided conversation on gun rights. He already shelled out $19 million to Future Forward, a super PAC that’s all but stamped “Harris 2024” on its forehead. This latest push through Everytown for Gun Safety is merely part of a broader strategy to drown out opposing views and vilify those who would raise their voices in defense of the Second Amendment. The stage is set, and it seems every day is another opportunity for Bloomberg and his ilk to test just how far they’re willing to go to stifle the freedoms that so many Americans hold dear.
