Calls for 25th Amendment Surge as Biden Falters Amid Crisis

The 25th Amendment seems to have been all the rage during Donald Trump’s presidency. Left wingers scrambled to invoke it despite no substantial evidence that he was mentally unfit for office. Fast forward to 2025, and there’s a different scenario unfolding: Joe Biden appears to be skipping down memory lane, missing the faculties that should come with being the commander-in-chief long before he took an embarrassing tumble at the June 27 debate.

In a moment that encapsulates the necessity for a leader who is mentally present, chaos broke loose in New Orleans as the calendar turned to January 1st. A suspected terrorist affiliated with the Islamic State gunned down at least 15 people with a rented pickup truck on Bourbon Street. This should raise some eyebrows—notably the ones belonging to those who once pushed for Trump’s ouster under the 25th Amendment. With this attack, the urgency for someone at the helm clear-minded enough to act is now painfully evident, even if that means it could be Kamala Harris calling the shots.

This incident saw Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S.-born citizen and veteran, turning a night of New Year’s Eve celebration into a scene of horror. Jabbar, who later died in a gunfight with law enforcement, was reported to possess an ISIS flag and explosives in his vehicle. It wasn’t long before the FBI flipped its narrative, initially downplaying the situation, dismissing it as less than a terrorist event. Just hours later, they decided to take the terrorist label out of the attic, dust it off, and admit that these were indeed terror-related activities.

Such an about-face from the FBI is curious, especially when considering their Orwellian refusal to call a spade a spade right off the bat. The agency had taken a milquetoast stance initially, rendering the attack as a problematic misunderstanding. Perhaps they were hoping no one would notice. But after an investigative wake-up call, they reluctantly confirmed that Jabbar was indeed associated with a terrorist organization.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s response—or lack thereof—has been textbook, displaying all the charisma of a cardboard cutout. Speaking from Camp David, he delivered sluggish remarks that were devoid of anything insightful. Rushed and poorly articulated, his address offered nothing new, particularly since the FBI had already put out the details he shared just hours earlier. Instead, viewers were treated to a tone-deaf reminder of why this administration is struggling.

One has to wonder what the point of this prescriptive public appearance was. Were viewers hoping for an engaging Q&A with the president? Or perhaps an inspiring rallying cry against terror in the heart of America? What they got was a man shuffling away awkwardly while reporters yelled questions into the void. No one functions under the illusion that Biden is mentally at the top of his game—a sentiment echoed even among his own supporters.

The looming shadow of the 25th Amendment raises valid questions as the nation grapples with this tragic event. With an urgent terror threat on American soil and the apparent mental diminishment of the sitting president, one can’t help but question the stability of the highest office. The only downside to this situation—reportedly a morbid thought—is that Kamala Harris would be next in line. As 2025 unfolds, the pressing need for decisive and coherent leadership becomes clearer, ironically juxtaposed against the ineptitude demonstrated at the highest levels.
