CBS has decided to drop the full, unedited transcript and video of Kamala Harris’s much-discussed “60 Minutes” interview like a hot potato, possibly hoping Americans will overlook the cringe-worthy moments that unfolded. If they thought a little longer version of her fumbling responses would save her face, they clearly haven’t given their audience enough credit. But for conservatives, it’s just another chance to witness the Vice President flounder under pressure, much like a fish out of water.
During the interview, Harris attempted to tackle several pressing issues, but her apparent inability to answer straightforward questions left viewers wondering if she was reading from the same script as the weather forecast. While Democrats try to spin her responses into something resembling clarity or coherence, many were too distracted by the verbal acrobatics to buy the message. The country’s concerns were met with a shimmering veil of “let me circle back to that” rhetoric, which is oddly reminiscent of her boss’s penchant for dodging questions.
As the nation continues to grapple with inflation, border control issues, and a slew of other pressing crises, Harris indulged in a round of word salad that would make even the most seasoned political spin-doctor blush. The timing of this interview could not be more opportune for conservatives, as it provided a front-row seat to yet another instance of the administration’s lack of direction and planning. As Republicans and independents alike watch this omnipresent pattern of avoidance unfold, the ripple effect of frustration grows louder. It seems that treating serious national concerns with nonchalance is the new norm among Democrats, and Harris is just doing her part to keep the tradition alive.
CBS’s unedited release might be an attempt to win back the trust of their skeptical audience, but it may only serve to further solidify the growing perception of Harris as unprepared and out of touch. With each awkward response, her approval ratings could give a roller coaster a run for its money. As Americans snooze through the same old political jargon, they are likely left wondering if they should grab popcorn for the next episode of the “Vice Presidential Flop Show.” For conservatives, it is just another reminder of why the ballot box is a sacred space in 2024.
