In the aftermath of the recent vice presidential debate, JD Vance found himself the target of an absurdly misguided fact-check by CBS News, showcasing the media’s desperate attempts to defend the indefensible. As Vance aptly pointed out Kamala Harris’s role as the so-called “Border Czar,” it’s clear he struck a nerve. CBS, apparently unbothered by the truth, rushed to propose that Harris is not, in fact, responsible for border matters. Despite several years of her own party’s narratives branding her with that very title, CBS’s claim falls flat on its face.
This latest media gambit fits into a bigger pattern. Ever since Harris’s elevation to the Democratic ticket, a veil of selective amnesia has descended upon her supporters and the press alike. The moment she was dubbed the focal point for addressing border issues, the liberal media started spinning tales about how she wouldn’t actually tackle the border crisis. This attempt is not just embarrassing but downright laughable. It wasn’t too long ago that countless articles and media segments hailed her as the “Border Czar” with a mandate to address the chaos at our borders. Yet CBS News, in its hilariously misguided fact-check, pretends this title holds no substance.

Despite its superficial dive into reported facts, it hits upon a bizarre refrain—it contends that while Harris may have an expansive role that doesn’t officially label her as the Border Czar, her responsibilities have eclipsed that position. This nonchalant dismissal strips away all cognitive dissonance. After all, when Roberta Jacobson, the previous Border Czar, exited the scene, the role was left vacant by design: Harris took over those duties, and this is not merely conjecture. Even the New York Times documented this transition with a faint glimmer of journalistic integrity.
When President Biden initially appointed her to this expanded role, it became abundantly clear that she was advancing a more extensive agenda that encompassed the Border Czar responsibilities. The man himself articulated these expectations, promising Harris would lead actions related to border security alongside diplomatic relationships with countries to our south. The left can conduct all the mental gymnastics they want, but facts remain. Harris’s tenure has conflated her duties into an overarching responsibility that includes everything the previous Border Czar managed—and more.
While CBS’s fact-check may want to play semantics, the reality remains that Harris’s title is negligible compared to the responsibilities she holds. The faux outrage from the left, amplified by the media’s spin machine, crumbles under scrutiny. As frustrated as some might be with Vance’s comments, the truth is undeniable. Being dubbed the “Border Czar” might not be a title Harris officially claims, but authentically, her role encompasses those very duties. The truth, inconvenient for some, is that the Border Czar position effectively became obsolete under her watch, not because it didn’t exist but because she assumed its responsibilities without the necessary accountability or results.
Thus, as CBS pushes forth its warped narrative, it becomes evident to anyone paying attention that the facts do not align with their storytelling. What was meant to be a definitive fact-check instead serves as a reminder that when it comes to defending anything related to Harris and the Biden administration, the truth can be twisted to fit any narrative.
