Chase Oliver Clinches Libertarian Nomination for 2024 Presidential Race

Political figure Chase Oliver has been selected as the Libertarian Party’s nominee for the 2024 presidential election. The decision was made after a final vote on Sunday night, during which Oliver garnered 60% of the support. If not chosen, the party would have faced challenges in being represented in the upcoming November election.

In his victory speech, Oliver urged his party members to join him in challenging what he called the “war machine,” and specifically highlighted his concerns about the situation in Gaza and called for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. He also announced economist Mike ter Maat as his running mate.

Neither expected Republican nominee Donald Trump nor independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. progressed through the Libertarian Party’s nomination process. Trump, in particular, did not qualify as he is not a member of the party, while RFK Jr. did not receive sufficient votes in the initial round and was eliminated.

Oliver gained recognition for his opposition to the U.S.’s involvement in the Iraq war in 2003 and previously ran as the Libertarian candidate for Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat in 2022. Although he finished in third place, his campaign website emphasizes his ability to attract national attention during debates. Oliver has expressed his desire to offer a fresh perspective to the current “broken two-party system” as he seeks the presidency. The Washington Examiner attempted to contact Oliver for further comments.
