Chicago, a city synonymous with deep-dish pizza, the Cubs, and windy politicians. However, the Windy City has been feeling the chill more than usual with their latest progressive mayor, Brandon Johnson. This guy makes former mayor Lori Lightfoot look like a day at the beach, and not in a good way. You might say Chicago jumped from the frying pan into the fire with this one.

What’s the issue with Johnson, you ask? Well, it seems like Chicago hadn’t gone all-in enough on the failed liberal policies. And now, Johnson’s approval rating is hovering around a frigid 28 percent. Yikes.
And to add insult to injury, Chicago is now dealing with a crisis of epic proportions – an illegal immigrant crisis to be exact. The city is freezing, and they now have to figure out how to house the migrants who have arrived there. Good luck with that, Mayor Johnson.
Not surprisingly, the residents are not thrilled about Johnson’s solution. The city has moved to extend a 60-day limit on shelter stays for illegal immigrants seeking asylum. Who knew these liberal policies would come back to bite them?
But wait, there’s more! This isn’t the first time Johnson has had to deal with the cold reality of Chicago’s weather. The city had to implement an extension because, shocker, Chicago’s weather is cold! Who would’ve thought?
To add insult to injury, the city allocated an additional $150 million in its 2024 budget to care for illegal immigrants who arrive in Chicago. That’s a lot of taxpayer money going towards migrants instead of Chicago’s own citizens.
The mayor, in a move that surprised no one, offered “direct acknowledgment of the deep racial divisions exposed by the crisis.” Oh, great, another woke politician solving problems by acknowledging how woke he is. Classic.
But wait, there’s more! Black residents are fed up with the sanctuary city policies and have threatened to vote for Republicans or independents. Turns out, not everyone is on board with being a “welcoming city,” especially when it comes at the expense of taxpaying citizens.
And as if things couldn’t get any worse, residents are suing the city over its handling of the illegal immigrant crisis. It’s a hot mess, or should we say, a frozen mess.
At this rate, cities like Chicago are feeling the brunt of their own ill-considered political posturing. And with the government determined not to let states enforce the border, it’s only going to get worse from here. Good luck, Chicago. You’re going to need it.
And just when you thought things couldn’t get any more absurd, some politicians on the left have criticized Johnson for not being welcoming enough. You can’t make this stuff up.
In the end, Chicago is feeling the frosty consequences of its de facto open borders policy. It’s a lesson that the Biden administration ignored, and now everyone is paying the price for it.
