In the world of woke warriors and their delicate sensibilities, one would think being labeled “problematic” confers an award of a dubious kind. But here we are, watching the social media circus unfold as these so-called influencers pick up their virtual bullhorns to denounce any inconvenient truth that crosses their screens. Recently, an influencer calling himself “nerdy Christian” took issue with a rather straightforward point on crime statistics, and his response was quite the exercise in gymnastics—mental gymnastics, that is.
The central complaint comes from a tweet discussing violent crime demographics, suggesting that young black males are disproportionately involved. Rather than refute this point with data or logic, this influencer decided to launch into a lengthy lecture on subconscious bias. Notably absent from his rambling was any substantive counterargument to the data in question. Instead, he sermonized about the perils of systemic racism, all while embodying a rhetoric as thin as the air in his echo chamber.
Through his winding monologue, the influencer introduced a fresh twist on racism—apparently, the most harmful racism is the kind lurking in the shadows of our minds, unnoticed and unintentional. This insight would be groundbreaking if it weren’t for the fact that it’s been cut and pasted from the progressive playbook for years. It’s the sort of convenient theory that allows any claim to be insulated from scrutiny while simultaneously absolving individuals of accountability. How clever.
What truly raises eyebrows is how this influencer, with “Christian” in his handle, paints faith in such a bleak light. If his version of Christianity is about shying away from tough conversations and embracing a timid existence, he’s certainly not doing the faith any favors. Unfortunately, he seems oblivious to the rich tradition of Christianity that calls for speaking uncomfortable truths—a tradition that champions courage over cowardice and conviction over conformity.
One can’t help but chuckle when picturing this purveyor of politically correct dogma standing at the pulpit, proclaiming the virtues of quiet compliance. In stark contrast, history is filled with Christians who spoke out against societal evils, even when unpopular. Courage, it seems, is not his strong suit. And if the churches pandering to this brand of diluted faith are indeed “decaying and dying,” one need only look to this kind of representation for answers.
In the end, the message remains clear. While some may choose to cower behind the soft sounds of progressivism, true strength is found in honesty, even when it stings. Those who dare to confront reality head-on do not lose their faith—they honor it. As the pages of history have shown time and again, it’s not the whispers of the faint-hearted that change the world, but the clarion call of truth. For those willing to stand firm, the future belongs.
