Christian Roots: The Foundation of America’s Greatness

Once again, we find ourselves in the midst of the familiar song and dance some of the mainstream media love to perform whenever traditional values make a resurgence. The analysts at MSNBC decided to dive into a discussion about what they call Christian nationalism. It’s amusing, really, how they often find themselves bewildered by the idea that Christianity might have something to do with the development of Western civilization. Seriously, it’s not rocket science. As one analyst almost grudgingly admitted, there’s a clear link between Christianity and the foundation of America.

Christianity and Western civilization have been intertwined since the beginning. The Founding Fathers were influenced by Christian values, and that’s what helped create a society based on freedom and the belief that rights come from a higher power, not a man-made government. Shocking as it may be to some, these principles have helped shape a nation that became the strongest and most prosperous in the world. Yes, it turns out that those old-timey values have served us well.

The real matter at hand is the constant attempt by some to drive a wedge between faith and patriotism. It’s puzzling how they seem to think that wanting to preserve cultural and religious heritage is a negative move. They label it Christian nationalism, hoping it will scare people away. But it’s really just people acknowledging and valuing their roots. It’s about ensuring the principles that made this country successful are protected and passed on to the next generation.

It’s amusing to see the dance the media creates around something as straightforward as valuing one’s cultural and religious heritage. For those who hold these conservative values, there’s a straightforward pride in a nation built on those principles. Of course, some might call it convoluted, but only if they’ve gotten lost in the spin of modern arguments that try to separate fundamental values from their achievements.

At the end of the day, it’s about preserving the good and standing firm against those who wish to tear down what has been built. With so much focus on criticizing these values, perhaps it’s an indication of how strongly they stand in society. Let’s not shy away from acknowledging that Christianity, far from a relic of the past, is a key part of the ongoing success of Western civilization. Isn’t it time we embrace that rather than question it?
