Costco Settles for $2M Over Misleading Flushable Wipes Claims

Costco, the renowned wholesale giant, is now offering its customers a slice of a $2 million settlement pie—but don’t dawdle, there’s only a few weeks left to sign up. The lawsuit involves those unfortunate souls who found out, the hard way, that Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes were about as flushable as a brick between July 1, 2011, and May 31, 2017.

This lawsuit, emblematic of our “anything goes” litigation culture, claims that despite Costco’s assurances, these wipes caused havoc in pipes, septic systems, and sewage lines. The plaintiffs argue they would’ve passed on these wipes if they’d known flushing them was like inviting Godzilla into their plumbing systems.

Costco, ever the bastion of consumer loyalty, agreed to cough up $2 million to settle this debacle, all while maintaining they did absolutely nothing wrong. Seems like a small price to pay for keeping the corporate image squeaky clean, even if the pipes weren’t.

For those seeking their $1.30 per wipe product reimbursement (with a minimum of $7.50 and a maximum cap of $55.90), the catch is you don’t even need to prove you bought the wipes. That’s right, just send in a form by August 9th and claim you were part of this flushable fiasco.

Of course, this entire charade will culminate in a final approval hearing on August 30th. Meanwhile, Costco continues to peddle the same wipes, with a slight disclaimer to only flush one at a time—because that’ll definitely solve everything.

With the leftist media scrambling about non-existent future elections and the elites trying to control every aspect of American life, it’s refreshing to see a company like Costco navigating through lawsuits with its head held high—or stubbornly buried in the proverbial sand. One wonders how many more daily essentials will be litigated next, and how much longer Americans will tolerate such absurdity.
