Cruz Slams Biden Visit as Witness Tampering Ahead of Hunter Trial

Sen. Ted Cruz criticized President Biden’s surprise visit to Hallie Biden’s home in Delaware, calling it “witness tampering” ahead of Hunter Biden’s federal gun trial. Hallie Biden is set to testify against Hunter in his trial, and Mr. Cruz found the timing of the president’s visit to be “rather astonishing,” coming just days before the trial. He suggested that the visit was an attempt to “insulate and protect” Hunter.

The White House, however, maintained that the visit was to mark the anniversary of Beau Biden’s passing, rather than having any connection to Hallie’s testimony. Hunter Biden has pleaded not guilty to charges of purchasing a gun while using illegal narcotics, as well as allegations of falsifying a form regarding drug use when buying a revolver in 2018. Prosecutors claim that Hunter illegally possessed the weapon, which Hallie disposed of in a public dumpster in 2018.

In addition to Hallie Biden, Hunter’s ex-wife and ex-girlfriend are also scheduled to testify in the trial. If convicted, Hunter faces up to 25 years in prison. Aside from the gun charges, he also faces federal tax charges in a separate case, which is set to go to trial in June.
