Another liberal heavyweight bites the dust. Steny Hoyer, one of the key architects of the left’s agenda, will finally exit Congress. We can’t ignore the sweet irony that as he rides off into the sunset, he delivered a parting blow to his own kind. After six decades in the political circus, Hoyer himself admits the House has strayed from what the founding fathers envisioned. Yet, he was a significant ship captain on the voyage toward this dysfunction. How typical: a liberal who laments the broken system yet fuels its demise.
Hoyer has been a staple in the Democratic ranks for nearly half a century, which is reason enough to celebrate his departure. His tenure is a testament to the entrenchment and stagnation that plague Washington’s political landscape. This is a man who boasted about the comradeship of the past while serving as a lead architect in constructing the hyper-partisan gridlock we see today. Under his watch, collaboration between parties vanished as swiftly as the taxpayer dollars squandered by his colleagues on unnecessary agendas.

While Democrats prattle about change, they cling to the same lifelong politicians who can barely remember a time when they weren’t in office. With Hoyer departing and Pelosi soon to follow, the Democratic leadership is left teetering on three legs – or maybe just one, as Clyburn remains standing. This mass exodus of party elders shows the undeniable anxiety and chaos bubbling under the Democratic veneer. Their supposed “big tent” is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions.
Hoyer’s farewell tour is about as sincere as his party’s attempts to legislate common sense. He unleashed a whirlwind of dread about where America is heading, a convenient tactic to deflect from the fact that the Democrats have been steering the ship towards division and mediocrity for years. His fears are nothing other than the fear of losing grip on a system he helped corrupt. Yet, they still talk about hopes for renewal and courage. Perhaps those words would have carried weight had they been spoken decades sooner.
As the curtain falls on Hoyer’s career, the real question remains: what lies ahead for the Democratic ship of fools? Will they finally choose some leaders with vision, who prioritize American greatness over party allegiance? Or will they continue their plummet, mired in their echo chamber of virtue signaling and failed policies? If history is any guide, the latter seems likely. And we might as well embrace it, because every misstep from the left is another vote for sanity and common sense. In 2026, we’ll see who America believes in—those who speak an endless cycle of empty promises, or those who actually deliver results.
