Democrats in Disarray as Self-Reflection Sparks Biden-Harris Debate

As the dust settles after the November 5 elections, the Democratic Party seems to be engaged in some serious self-reflection, although one has to wonder if they’re staring into a funhouse mirror. With Vice President Kamala Harris suffering a nearly-apocalyptic defeat, whispers in liberal circles have turned to the possibility that perhaps Joe Biden was never the real problem. After all, as they say, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, right?

In a hilarious twist of irony, Democratic strategists are speculating on whether Biden could have fared better against Donald Trump. This revelation wasn’t pulled from the depths of a crystal ball – it was, in fact, articulated by Dan Kanninen, the battleground director for the Biden-Harris campaign. In his analysis, Kanninen argued that if Biden had been the top candidate instead of Harris, the outcome would have been pretty much the same. This raises a critical question: were Democrats effectively throwing Kamala under the bus while still debating the legitimacy of their own vehicle?

Kanninen attempted to spin his way through an explanation, noting that Biden wasn’t “toxic” to voters in the way that Harris apparently was. In his view, Trump’s strong approval ratings, which were shockingly high compared to when he first ran, might have made a difference – except he seems to have conveniently forgotten the glaring fact that Trump still won the election. A great strategist indeed, one has to appreciate Kanninen’s creativity in shifting blame away from Harris and onto theoretical circumstances as if they were the primary villains in a Shakespearean drama.

Meanwhile, in a rare moment of candor, Biden himself entertained the idea of whether he could have beaten Trump, but his answer still reeked of classic Joe. He called it “presumptuous” to say yes while simultaneously saying yes. A true politician’s maneuver! It’s as if he’s trying to straddle the fence while enthusiastically embracing the other side. But lest he get too comfortable, CNN analyst Harry Enten threw cold water on Biden’s musings, categorizing his claims as “flat-out bonkers.” What a zinger! It appears even Biden’s allies agree he shouldn’t be bold enough to think he could stand toe-to-toe with the former president.

Before anyone gets too enamored with the idea of electing Biden instead of Harris, it’s worth remembering that Biden had been trailing Trump significantly before he dropped out. Not only that, but no incumbent president as unpopular as Biden has ever emerged victorious after an election cycle. So, unless Democrats are planning to launch a campaign built on wishful thinking, their troubles may not be as easily resolved as they hope. It seems they’re destined to be haunted by the ghosts of electoral choices past – a cautionary tale for those who get too comfortable in positions of power without the necessary backing of the electorate.
