With a staggering number of minors lost in the system, the nation is left to wonder about the Democrats’ method of handling the surge of young migrants. This debacle brings to light the Biden administration’s troubling strategy of placing these minors with adult sponsors, some of whom are not even related to them. Under the guise of compassion, this plan has resulted in far too many children disappearing without a trace into the vast terrain of America, and with no oversight. One cannot help but question the foresight-or, or rather, lack thereof—in a system that seems more concerned with avoiding scrutiny than ensuring the safety of these young lives.
How is it that a federal body, tasked with the care of these children, cannot account for them after they’re placed? The answer lies in the fact that Health and Human Services (HHS), which manages this program, isn’t equipped as a law enforcement entity. They’ve thrown up their hands, claiming they have no jurisdiction over the kids once they’re handed off. It would seem the priorities set by the current administration align more with a laissez-faire approach to law and order than with the protection of the vulnerable.
And what about the role of schools? You’d think local schools could provide a safety net or check-in point for these children. Unfortunately, the Democrats had other plans. It seems the Democrats have done everything in their power to ensure zero accountability, effectively leaving the children invisible to those who might offer them care or supervision.
The current policy choices showcase a blatant disregard for transparency and safety. One might wonder whether the administration purposely turns a blind eye to keep its immigration numbers in check. Or perhaps this chaos stems from sheer negligence. Regardless, it’s clear that Democrats are once again putting politics over people and ideals over individuals.
For the rest of us, who care and worry about these missing children, the situation is beyond unacceptable. It’s high time for the disorganized mess at the border to be cleaned up, for accountability to be demanded, and for the safety of these young souls to take precedence over political gamesmanship. It’s no laughing matter when the lives and well-being of tens of thousands are put at risk by an administration that seems to value ideology over integrity.
