Democrats Play Blame Game as Biden Botches Hurricane Response

Hurricane Helene had barely cleared the coast before the political theater began, with the Democrats scrambling to shift blame away from President Biden’s unimpressive handling of the disaster response. As Hurricane Milton loomed over Florida, the DNC War Room cranked out a wave of panic involving the ever-tedious “MAGA Minions” and the supposed menace of the “Trump-Vance Project 2025 agenda.” It seems that in the aftermath of a hurricane, the Democrats revel in using disasters for political gain, all while diverting attention from their failures.

The Democrats were particularly ruffled after a group of Republican lawmakers voted against a continuing resolution that was laden with reckless spending. The DNC’s email highlighted that Republicans had opposed extending FEMA funding but conveniently ignored the fact that this resolution was more a buffet of excess than a lifeline for hurricane relief. Many Republicans took issue with the CR’s lack of provisions aimed at securing upcoming elections—a concerning priority indeed. It is no surprise that the DNC is attempting to create a narrative where they victimize themselves, all while failing to acknowledge the real issues at hand.

The Kamala HQ account faced a slew of criticism for its tone-deaf analyses, with Republican Senator Thom Tillis stepping up to remind the public of Harris’s penchant for political grandstanding. While the Vice President was busy pointing fingers, she found time to dish out a paltry $750 to hurricane victims—hardly enough to replace a roof, let alone rebuild a life. Meanwhile, her administration busies itself with virtue signaling and foreign aid, including “caring” for Lebanon rather than focusing on Americans right in its backyard.

Democrats appeared particularly unoriginal in their whining about Hurricane Helene and the alleged negligence of others, given their history of mismanagement and poor responses. Reports indicate that FEMA has been busy misappropriating funds and slathering resources onto leftist causes, all while claiming to be working tirelessly for the American public. When the administration’s own Press Secretary is forced to acknowledge the glaring discrepancies in their rhetoric, it raises serious questions about their commitment to genuine disaster response.

A quick glance at the CR shows a staggering plethora of funds aimed at everything from the National Institutes of Health to “girl-centered climate action” in Brazil as if the American people had voted for their money to go overseas rather than into their communities. Biden’s $369 billion Inflation Reduction Act was supposedly aimed at curbing inflation but seems to have turned into yet another front for climate alarmism and multi-million dollar subsidies for far-left pet projects. The focus on funding foreign bureaucracies while neglecting local needs speaks volumes about the priorities of the Biden-Harris administration.

As the Democrats carry on with their narrative of blame and delay, they make a futile attempt to link Donald Trump to Project 2025, an initiative from the Heritage Foundation with which he has no affiliation. It is almost comical how frequently they attempt to tie their adversaries to narratives littered with exaggeration and mischaracterization, even when they’ve been called out on their blatant inaccuracies. With this level of political gymnastics, it’s clear their focus lies on attempts at misdirection rather than real solutions for the American people facing the aftermath of natural disasters.
