In the ever-tumultuous arena of American politics, change is often little more than a resume shuffle. The latest headlines could make one believe that a grand transformation is underway, particularly with a recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump that would certainly rally the nation in unity. However, the only thing that seemed to unify the left was the knee-jerk reaction to spin conspiracies that even the most fervent QAnon theorist would scoff at. Just shy of 48 hours later, many on the left regrettably focused their agendas on the mere fact that Trump survived, which might just catapult him to even greater heights of popularity. In a classic display, the Democrats continue their steadfast march towards absolute control, ignoring any notion of national solidarity.
But just when one might think the winds of change were blowing through Democratic ranks, Joe Biden’s sudden exit from the presidential race was hailed as a patriotic gesture. In reality, it was nothing short of a hostage exchange orchestrated by power brokers like Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. After weeks of dodging questions and fantasying about his political future, Biden capitulated under the weight of pressure from the very megadonors the left often vilifies. It’s almost comical to consider that what benefits the Biden family most often comes at the expense of his leadership. The Democrats had essentially traded a senile old soldier for a fresh face—who unsurprisingly comes with her own puppet strings.
And then there’s the much-hyped resignation of USSS Director Kim Cheatle, which the mainstream media painted as a victory for accountability. However, it was merely a walking-away party for Cheatle, paving her way towards a cushy retirement or possibly a corporate gig, none of which involves any actual consequences for her or the agents charged with protecting high-profile targets. The dangerous lapses in security that could have occurred under her watch remain unresolved, just like the deep-seated inequities held by the powerful within the Democrat machine. Mayorkas and Garland keep their posts unscathed, dictating their narratives with impunity.
Reporters now turn their cameras to Biden’s mental fitness, claiming they are finally doing their jobs, but what they really mean is that they are following a convenient script. The same media that just weeks prior insisted Biden was as sharp as a tack are now fretting over the potential downfall of a Kamala Harris candidacy. It’s almost endearing how “ageism” becomes relevant only when discussing a Republican while any critique of Harris will swiftly be slapped with labels of racism and sexism. Perhaps soon the press will begin singing praises of Harris’s wisdom and integrity through an obscured lens, effectively burying her record under a mountain of skewed praise.
The Democrats cry urgency in “saving democracy,” but their antics give anyone pause. Having attempted court-packing, executive overreach, and more, their latest endeavors resemble a desperate coup to replace Biden with a candidate who embodies the ideological husk of progressivism yet has never once been put to vote for such responsibilities. The seam-stitch of this farcical drama merely stitches together the same old, tired players who refuse to acknowledge the will of the American people.
Amidst all the spin and mystical belief in change, one fact remains clear: the scenery may shift, but the substantive issues remain unbearably similar. With names swapped and pretexts refreshed, the bureaucratic swamp continues to thrive, gleefully thwarting any trace of authentic democracy. The Democratic Party has become a perpetual circus, shuffling through participants while ignoring the very foundation meant to uphold it. The greater political landscape rolls on, reminding everyone that change is very often just a matter of perspective.
