Dems in Disarray as Sotomayor Succession Saga Spins Out of Control

In the latest Democratic drama, there’s been chatter about Justice Sonia Sotomayor retiring so that President Joe Biden can nominate another liberal justice. It seems like the left just can’t get enough of trying to manipulate the Supreme Court! They did it before with Justice Stephen Breyer, practically forcing him out so that Biden could appoint Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. Not even Justice Breyer’s retirement was kept under wraps; it was leaked beforehand!

But not everyone is on board with the rush to push Justice Sotomayor out the door. Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, had a not-so-subtle message for his colleague, Senator Bob Menendez from New Jersey. Fetterman made it clear that Menendez, who’s facing serious corruption charges with his wife, should be the one packing up his office, not Sotomayor. And honestly, Fetterman’s been trolling Menendez on this for months. It’s like a congressional soap opera!

Despite facing multiple corruption charges, Senator Menendez not only refuses to resign, but he’s also teasing a run for reelection as an Independent. Talk about audacity! With a measly 14 percent approval rating among New Jersey voters and only 9 percent support in a recent poll if he were to run, Menendez is clearly on thin ice.

But Fetterman isn’t the only one dismissing calls for Sotomayor to retire. It seems like the Democratic party is in chaos over this issue. Even Senator Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut made a comment that hinted at the idea of Sotomayor retiring, and that ruffled some feathers among his fellow Democrats and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. And the drama doesn’t end there!

Nate Silver, the founder of FiveThirtyEight, has been quite vocal about his belief that Sotomayor should retire and be replaced by a younger liberal justice. He even went as far as to say that if you care about progressive political outcomes, then you should want Sotomayor to retire. He pointed out the missed opportunity with the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and how the Supreme Court could have looked very different if she had retired sooner. Silver is really stirring the pot with his views on the matter!

It’s clear that the Democrats are in disarray over the Supreme Court, and the upcoming 2024 elections are only adding to the chaos. With the possibility of Republicans taking back control of the Senate, the Democratic party is facing some serious challenges. It’s like a reality TV show, but with higher stakes! And as the drama unfolds, it’s a wild ride to see which side will come out on top.
