In a surprising turn of events, Florida state Representative Randy Fine, a longtime ally of Governor Ron DeSantis, has officially shown support for former President Donald Trump. Fine has cited Trump’s record on Israel as the main reason for his change of heart. He criticized DeSantis for what he perceives as a lack of action against Nazis who have reportedly invaded Florida.

Taking to Twitter, Fine announced his endorsement of Trump, stating that recent events have made him realize the simple choice Jews have when it comes to voting. He believes that Trump, unlike DeSantis, not only speaks about doing the right things but actually follows through with actions. Fine expressed his disappointment in DeSantis for not speaking out against the Nazis who have been displaying anti-Semitic messages in public spaces.
In a passionate op-ed for the Washington Times titled “Donald Trump has never let us down,” Fine shared an incident where he was physically assaulted by a Nazi in Florida. This incident, along with DeSantis’ silence, made him question the governor’s commitment to protecting Jewish residents. Fine praised Trump for his actions in support of Israel, such as moving the embassy to Jerusalem and green-lighting the annexation of the Golan Heights. He also applauded Trump for his role in signing the Abraham Accords, which he believes should have earned the former president a Nobel Peace Prize.
Adding to his critique of DeSantis, Fine revealed that he had helped fund a state Holocaust memorial five years ago, but ground has not yet been broken for its construction. He accused DeSantis of taking longer to honor the six million Jews who lost their lives during the Holocaust than it took for the Allies to end the war and stop the deaths of six million more.
Not only did Fine voice his support for Trump and his record on Israel, but he also spoke about the recent Hamas attacks in Israel. In an interview with The Floridian, Fine called for the expulsion of the pro-Palestinian “Squad” in Congress, claiming they are more focused on Gaza than on American hostages held there. He went as far as to label their actions as treason.
