Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has shown he is a strong ally of Israel by signing a bill designed to combat antisemitism within his state while on a recent trip to Israel, despite objections from Democrats. Sponsored by Republican legislators Mike Caruso and Randy Fine, the bill enables law enforcement to charge individuals who intimidate or threaten someone based on their religious or ethnic heritage with a felony.

This new law will specifically be used to take action against the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, also known as BDS, which forces businesses and institutions to withdraw support from Israel. BDS is now “DOA” or dead on arrival in the sunshine state thanks to DeSantis’ leadership.
In recent months, Florida has experienced a significant rise in antisemitic incidents, including one case where a message was projected onto an Orlando building that read “Vax the Jews” and another instance where members of the Goyim Defense League, a group known for their antisemitic rhetoric, harassed and threatened Jews.
In order to send a strong message to these violent extremists, DeSantis is charging anyone who displays a message that may be considered a credible threat toward a person’s safety with a third-degree felony. Republican politician Randy Fine has stated that the new law is directed towards the “Nazi thugs” of Florida and they will not be tolerated.
This bill is a direct response to the growing number of antisemitic acts that have been taking place in the state, and it is an excellent example of Governor DeSantis’ commitment to fighting against hate and intolerance. The Daily Caller News Foundation applauds the Governor for his swift action against antisemitism and other forms of hate in Florida. It is truly a breath of fresh air to see such unwavering support for Israel and its people from a Republican leader.
